Brian Baize, '07
Director of Athletics
Brian Baize is the athletic director at Riverside Preparatory Academy. In eight years as an employee at Riverside, Baize served as a TAC, coach, teacher, martial arts instructor and assistant director of Student Affairs.
Baize has been the head coach of Riverside’s cross country, track and field, and wrestling teams. He was the assistant head coach of a state championship track team. He's also led the Martial Arts club, and he was defensive coordinator of the football team. He was inducted into the Riverside’s Sports Hall of Fame in 2019.
He attended Riverside from 2003-2007, where he was team captain and earned five state titles in football, track and wrestling. He was company commander of Charlie Company, Honor Court chairman, senior class president, and recipient of the Sandy Beaver Medal of General Excellence Award.
Baize holds a bachelor’s degree in business from The Citadel, where he competed in the decathlon during track and field outdoor seasons. Since 2008, he holds the school record for the Heptathlon Indoor track and field event.
He is currently working on this master's degree in divinity Liberty University, focusing on youth and family ministry.
Coach Baize is a fifth-degree black belt in Kami Bushi Kai, Karate-Jutsu, with the title of Nidai-Soke of the family system (est. 1973). He holds a black belt in traditional Japanese Jujutsu, and is a Master-level karate instructor with over 13 years of teaching experience. He currently serves as Assistant Director of the United Bujutsu Federation, an umbrella of several martial arts schools across the country.
