Ellen DeFoor
Vice President for Advancement
Ellen DeFoor served as Director of Development and was on the leadership team of The Medical Center Foundation (TMCF), the philanthropic arm of the Northeast Georgia Health System (NGHS). In this role, she was responsible for planning and implementing all fund development efforts to increase philanthropic support of TMCF to advance NGHS as the preferred and indispensable healthcare resource in North Georgia.
DeFoor's relationship-driven approach at NGHS was focused on donor-centered philanthropy, providing individuals, businesses, physicians, volunteers and employees with the opportunity to make a difference through charitable giving - matching the community's health needs and the organization's needs in a way that was personally meaningful to the donor.
Since 2008, DeFoor has held positions of increasing responsibility in her development career. Prior to working in fundraising, she owned and managed a successful business providing professional release of information services to healthcare facilities and physician offices, which included processing confidential requests for patient health information.
DeFoor grew up in Nashville, Tennessee and has lived in Gainesville, Georgia since 1989. Her husband, Mark, teaches high school mathematics and coaches varsity football and basketball at Winder-Barrow High School. They have twins, Mikalyn and Dallas; Mikalyn is completing her second year of medical school at Augusta University's Medical College of Georgia, and Dallas is in his first year of a Master's Degree program at Texas A&M University and is working as an intern in the Athletic Department.
