Riverside Preparatory Academy President Stanley C. “Staś” Preczewski announced today his plans to retire effective June 30, 2024. A retired college president and retired U.S. Army colonel, Preczewski has served as president of Riverside since 2019.
“Whether it’s news releases, national rankings, fundraising, or accomplishments of our graduates, Riverside has been on a remarkable upward transformation since the launch of our RMA 2025 five-year strategic plan in 2019,” Dr. Preczewski said in a message to the Riverside community. “The credit goes to the faculty & staff, cadets, parents, alumni, donors, and community friends for their commitment and resilience. Acceptance of change and flexibility has led us through a global pandemic and economic factors that have driven inflation and recession, and it is how the Academy continues to innovate and improve. I have been privileged and proud to shoulder this work alongside the Riverside community, each, and every day.”
Preczewski was selected as president in October 2018. His proven success as an executive administrator with strong business strategic planning and budgetary experience, outstanding academic credentials and fundraising acumen, blended with a strong work ethic and history of good judgment, made him the ideal leader for Riverside.
Prior to becoming Riverside’s President, Preczewski served as president of Georgia Gwinnett College. His professional experience includes executive leadership roles in the college and university system from 2006 to 2018, including serving as vice president for academic & student affairs from the opening of GGC in 2006 until he was appointed college president in 2013, as well as academic leadership roles at the United States Military Academy, West Point, for more than 11 years.
Under Preczewski’s leadership, Riverside achieved year-over-year successes:
- More robust academics including signature programs Aerospace Engineering, Cybersecurity, and Civil Air Patrol.
- Dual enrollment for college credit.
- Guaranteed admissions agreements with six colleges (and two pending).
- 100% of senior class receiving college acceptances and students attending top-tier universities with increased collegiate scholarship awards.
- Region and state competition in several GIAA-sanctioned sports, and national championship JROTC Raider teams.
- Record retention of students.
- An increase near double the total dollars raised in previous years buttressed by 95% of employees contributing to the Riverside Annual Fund.
“Dr. Preczewski’s pursuit of excellence and commitment to keep students first have led Riverside Prep to new heights of success,” said Board of Trustees Chairman, Dr. Daniel Kaufman, a retired U.S. Army Brigadier General. “He has brought unparallelled strategic leadership to Riverside and led his team to extraordinary successes, even throughout the challenging times of disruption during the global pandemic and economic recession. We are forever grateful for his service and wish he and his wife Jean well in retirement.”
The governing board honored Preczewski with “President Emeritus” status. He will retain an office on Riverside’s campus and continue as a permanent ambassador of the Academy as directed by his replacement.
